Mental Health and Addictions Counseling

You deserve to have peace and joy.

INDIVIDUAL + ADDICTIONS COUNSELING

When you and I connect for the first time, my first task will be to build a safe and trusting relationship with you. I also want to hear about what is troubling you and what you want to accomplish in our work. I use a variety of methods to help you to identify problems and solutions. I will help you to understand, manage and reduce painful emotions. This is especially important if you are fighting or managing addiction. From our work, you will learn that any painful emotion is a signal that your needs are not being met, and that change in either thinking and or behaviors is needed. Many of my clients report having better decision making skills and healthier relationships as a result of our work. In addition, I provide education and support to loved ones of my clients with addictions, teaching them how to be loving and supportive but not enabling.

FAMILY SUPPORT

Having a a loved one with addiction and or mental illness causes much angst for all involved. Often it is difficult for loved ones to talk among themselves. Having a neutral and safe, confidential place to share is what is needed. I provide nurturing support, education and resources. At times, both the client and the loved ones of the client will meet with me. I vary my approaches to meet the needs of those involved. I act in transparent ways so all those involved are aware of concerns and feedback.
